Proted Prosthetics and Orthotics Inc., founded in 1992 in Ankara, set out with the vision of reducing Türkiye’s dependence on foreign prosthetic–orthotic products and becoming a global brand. The company’s founder is a graduate of Hacettepe University’s Mechanical Engineering Department and has served as an academic in the field of prosthetics and orthotics at the same institution.

In 2017, Proted was officially recognized as an R&D Center in its field in Türkiye. To date, the company has successfully completed 17 projects supported by TÜBİTAK, KOSGEB, and the Ankara Development Agency. Between 2023 and 2025, Proted is carrying out two additional projects in collaboration with TUSEB – Ministry of Health, focusing on advanced prosthetic solutions for veterans and earthquake survivors, including an Electronic Hand and an Artificial Intelligence–supported knee joint prosthesis.

Proted manufactures many products that are not otherwise produced domestically at its facility located in the İvedik Organized Industrial Zone in Ankara. With more than 50 employees and a team of over 15 engineers within its R&D Center, the company maintains its position as the leading manufacturer with the most advanced technology and the highest production capacity not only in Türkiye but also in the region.

Today, Proted, the only company in Türkiye with an R&D Center in this field, manufactures over 6,600 components and more than 1,200 products. With 95% of its production dedicated to exports, the company reaches 63 countries. Among its key completed projects—produced for the first time in Türkiye—are prosthetic feet, mechanical knee joints, hydraulic joint systems, carbon composite prosthetic feet, and silicone liners, all of which have been successfully developed and brought into domestic production.
